Hello, I’m Finnie

Most adventures still start in Scotland.

I’ve explored more than 70 countries, climbed above 4,000 metres in Morocco and Peru, and spent countless weekends heading back to the Lake District—often with a Border Collie and Fox Red Lab in tow.

Why this site exists

I wanted one place for the things that actually helped.

I have bought plenty of travel and hiking kit that sounded brilliant but did not earn its space. Finnie’s Adventures is where I keep the opposite: the footwear, layers, travel essentials and dog gear that solved a real problem or made a trip noticeably easier.

The Lakes are where I do most of my hiking, alongside Scottish Munros and bigger trips such as the Atlas Mountains and Peruvian Andes. City breaks have taken me through Rome, Florence, Bologna, Milan, Orvieto, Krakow, Warsaw, Marrakech, Barcelona and Madrid—often with a small bag and a very high step count.

I am not interested in recommending thirty versions of the same thing. The aim is a specific, honest answer for the trip you are planning, written in the way I would explain it to a friend.

01

Real trips first

The destination or walk comes before the product list.

02

Specific beats generic

A useful answer for one situation is better than endless essentials.

03

Only what earns space

If I would not pack it again, it does not need a glowing note.
